Simon Tormey

Simon Tormey currently serves as the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Education at Deakin University since August 2023. Prior to this, Tormey held the position of Dean for the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law at the University of Bristol from September 2019 to July 2023. Tormey's career in academia began at the University of Leicester, where a role as a Lecturer lasted from August 1988 to July 1990. Subsequent appointments included significant leadership and faculty positions at the University of Nottingham, including Head of School and Founding Director of the Centre for the Study of Social and Global Justice. At the University of Sydney, Tormey was a Professor of Politics and served as Head of School in the Social and Political Sciences department from January 2009 to August 2019. Educational credentials include a Doctor of Philosophy in Social Sciences from Swansea University and a Common Professional Examination in Law from Nottingham Law School.
