Nikola Borisov

Nikola Borisov has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. Nikola is currently serving as the CEO & Cofounder of Deep Infra Inc. since September 2022. Prior to this, they worked at HalloApp as a Backend Software Engineer from March 2020 to April 2022, where they were a member of the founding team and played a major role in designing and implementing the backend using Erlang, ProtoBuf, AWS, and Redis technologies.

Before HalloApp, Nikola worked at imo.im from June 2010 to March 2020. Nikola started as an SDE and later became the Director Of Engineering. As the Tech Lead and Manager of the Backend team, they designed and implemented a highly scalable and cost-efficient microservice backend used by over 200 million monthly active users. The services were implemented in Python and Java, and the databases used were Redis and Cassandra.

Nikola also gained valuable experience as an SDE Intern at Microsoft Corporation in 2009, where they worked on the Core Media Codec Team in Windows and developed real-time video preprocessing and stabilization algorithms using DX11 technologies like HLSL.

Nikola began their professional career as a Software Development Engineering Intern at DreamBox Learning in 2007 and 2008.

Nikola Borisov completed their high school education from 1998 to 2005 at Sofia High School of Mathematics, focusing on Mathematics and Computer Science. Nikola then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, with a Minor in Economics, from Northwestern University, graduating in 2010.
