Steven McCarthy

Steven McCarthy is an experienced maritime engineer and operations director, currently serving as the DE&S Ships Operations Director at Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) since August 2021, overseeing operations and capability integration for the Royal Navy and MOD shipping. Prior roles at DE&S include Head of Delivery for in-service support of Royal Navy and Royal Fleet Auxiliary shipping, and leadership positions related to Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers, where responsibilities spanned from engineering support to safety management. Steven's extensive background includes serving as a Commander Marine Engineer for HMS ILLUSTRIOUS, a Marine Systems Manager for the Canadian Forces, and various roles within the Royal Navy and UK Ministry of Defence, complemented by a strong educational foundation in marine engineering and defence studies.
