Celine Gomez

Director of Operations at Definigen

Celine Gomez has a long history of work experience, beginning in 2004 when they were a PhD student and Research Associate at the Stowers Institute for Medical Research. During their time there, they investigated the mechanisms regulating the final number of somites in different species. In 2008, Gomez moved to the University of Cambridge as a Research Associate, where they worked on understanding how skin is compartmentalized and how epidermal stem cells interact with their environment. This work resulted in two publications. In 2012, Gomez moved to King's College London, where they followed up on the skin project they started in Cambridge. Here, they published a paper on inhibition of beta-catenin signalling in dermal fibroblasts. In 2013, they were a Technical Service Representative at R&D Systems. From 2014 to 2019, Gomez was a Senior Scientific Manager and Staff Scientist at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, where they led a team of 5-6 people to deliver multiple projects for faculty teams. In 2019, they became an Account Manager, Projects and Operations at Censo Biotechnologies, where they spearheaded the optimisation of scientific operations at two company sites. In 2021, Gomez was appointed Head of Operations at DefiniGEN.

Celine Gomez has a comprehensive education history, beginning with a Bachelor's degree in Cellular Biology and Animal Physiology from Pierre and Marie Curie University, which they obtained between 1998 and 2001. Celine then went on to receive a Master's degree in Developmental Biology and Animal Genetics from the same university between 2001 and 2003. Finally, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Developmental Biology and Embryology from Pierre and Marie Curie University in 2007. Additionally, they have obtained two certifications, an APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ) from the Association for Project Management in 2019 and a Management in Action certification from Talking Ape in 2017.
