Richard Thompson

Richard Thompson possesses extensive experience in environmental policy and international negotiations, currently serving as the Head of Strategic Partnerships and Local Growth for the Food and Drink Quality & Partnerships division and leading international environment negotiations at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs since 2019. Prior to this role, Richard held various positions at the Department for Transport, including Head of Maritime Trade and International Policy, where responsibilities included developing new Maritime Trade Policy and engaging with international maritime leaders. Previous roles also encompassed risk analysis and public policy development for high-speed rail projects. Richard's early career included roles at ASSA ABLOY, involving product marketing and commercial operations in the security hardware sector. Richard's academic background includes a Master's degree in International Relations and a Postgraduate Diploma in Terrorism and Political Violence from the University of St Andrews and the University of Richmond.
