Tim Wheeler

Tim Wheeler is the Deputy Director of International Science at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), where they focus on promoting international scientific initiatives. Previously, Tim served as Deputy Chief Scientific Adviser at the Department for International Development (DFID) for six years and held leadership roles at the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and UK Research & Innovation (UKRI). With over 30 years of experience in sustainable agriculture and climate change research, Tim possesses specialized skills in forecasting climate risks to food production. They are also a Visiting Professor at the University of Reading and an Honorary Professor at the University of Bristol, actively contributing to the field through research and education.
