Erdem Erkul

Erdem Erkul, PhD, has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Erdem is the Founder/Chairman of Cerebrum Technologies, a position they have held since December 2020. Erdem is also an Official Member of the Forbes Technology Council, starting in August 2023. Erdem is the President of DEIK - Digital Technologies Business Council since July 2022 and serves as a Board Member in several business councils. Erdem has been an Executive Board Member of the Turkish Informatics Foundation since March 2015 and is the Founder and Editor of digital-government.net since March 2006. Erdem is a Board Member and Investor at Metacognitive, an organization specializing in data analysis and artificial intelligence-based solutions since July 2021. Erdem is a Senior Advisor at the Artificial Intelligence Policies Association (AIPA) since January 2022. Erdem served as the Country Director of Public Sector & Investments at Microsoft from July 2018 to November 2020. Erdem's extensive experience also includes positions such as Member and Vice President of the Council of European Professional Informatics Societies in Brussels. Erdem has actively contributed to various projects and collaborations within the council. Erdem has served as an Executive Board Member of GEN Türkiye from December 2020 to December 2022.

Erdem Erkul, PhD has a diverse education history. In 1994, they completed high school at Sivas Lisesi. Erdem went on to pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at Sivas Cumhuriyet Üniversitesi from 1997 to 2000. In 2001, they completed a Bachelor's Course Completion Program in Business and Public Administration at Hacettepe University.

Erkul continued their studies and obtained a Master's degree in Public Administration from Hacettepe University from 2002 to 2005. Erdem then pursued a PhD in Political Science and Public Administration at Ankara University, completing it in 2014.

In terms of executive education, Erkul attended the National Center for Digital Government's Doctoral Research Fellow program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst from 2008 to 2009. Erdem also earned a PhD in e-government and public policy from the National Center for Digital Government in the USA from 2008 to 2010.

Erkul further enhanced their education by attending the Executive Education program in Innovation for Economic Development at Harvard Kennedy School in 2013-2014. In 2021-2022, they pursued Technological Disruption: Managing the Impact on Business, Society and Politics at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

Additionally, Erkul obtained several certifications to expand their knowledge and skills. Erdem completed courses like Metaverse and NFTs for Marketing, Blockchain Basics, and Smart Cities: Solving Urban Problems Using Technology on LinkedIn. Erdem also obtained a Coaching-Education (Authorization or Endorsement) certification from inviteCHANGE and completed the digital social seller course by Tricycle Europe.
