Michael J. Cyrus has a diverse work experience in the finance industry. Michael J. started their career at Dresdner Bank in 2000 as a Business Manager, and later became the Head of Credit Financing and Collateral Trading. In 2007, they joined RBS Global Banking & Markets as the Head for Credit Financing Collateral Trading. Michael J. then served as the Global Co-Head of Short Term Markets and Financing. In 2011, they joined DekaBank Deutsche Girozentrale as the Head of Short Term Products, Equity Finance & FX. In 2018, they became a Lecturer at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. Recently, in 2019, they joined Deutsche Börse as the Chairman of the Repo Board Advisory Committee.

Michael J. Cyrus attended The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) from 1997 to 2007, where they studied Portfolio Theory and Derivatives Markets through Diverse Summer Schools. Michael J. also studied Theoretical Economic Studies, focusing on Short Term Capital Markets and Capital Movements, at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg from 1997 to 2000. Prior to that, they completed a Diploma in Economics, specializing in Econometrics and Quantitative Economics, at the University of Hamburg from 1990 to 1997. In their earlier years, they also received training in the Medical Service at Federal Armed Forces Germany from 1988 to 1990. In addition, they obtained a certification in Model Thinking from the Coursera Course Certificates in 2016.
