Greg Barton is an experienced criminal defense attorney and legal professional. Since May 2008, Greg Barton has operated Gregory R. Barton, P.C., focusing on criminal defense. Prior to this, Greg Barton served as Solicitor-General at the Douglas County Solicitor-General's Office from October 2001 to March 2007, overseeing the prosecution of misdemeanor criminal offenses. In earlier roles, Greg Barton was an Assistant District Attorney at both the Douglas County District Attorney's Office and the Cobb County District Attorney's Office, responsible for prosecuting felony and misdemeanor offenses. Greg Barton holds a Juris Doctorate from Atlanta's John Marshall Law School and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice/Political Science from Georgia State University.

The Office of the DeKalb County Solicitor-General, under the direction of Solicitor-General Donna Coleman-Stribling, prosecutes more than 13,000 misdemeanor crimes committed in DeKalb County each year. These cases include domestic violence, elder abuse, cruelty to children, vehicular homicide, drunk driving, harassment and stalking, trespassing and animal cruelty. This Office is also responsible for the prosecution of county ordinance violations, which combined with misdemeanors, affect the quality of life for DeKalb County’s more than 750,000 citizens.
