Laurel Creek Spainhour has extensive legal experience, currently serving as Deputy Chief Assistant Solicitor-General and previously as Assistant Solicitor-General III at the DeKalb County Solicitor-General's Office since May 2021, focusing on Records Restriction/Post-Conviction. Prior to this role, Laurel held the position of Senior Assistant Solicitor General I at the Clayton County Solicitor General's Office from February 2018 to May 2021, working as a General Trial Line Prosecutor. Earlier career positions include Associate at Stokes Carmichael & Ernst LLP, where the focus was on creditor and commercial law, as well as roles at the Law Office of Kathleen Flynn and Attorney at Law providing services in Social Security Disability and general law practice respectively. Additionally, Laurel spent several years as an Associate at Sams & Cole, LLC, specializing in civil litigation across various areas. Laurel holds a Juris Doctorate from Atlanta's John Marshall Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in French Literature with a minor in Philosophy from The University of the South.

The Office of the DeKalb County Solicitor-General, under the direction of Solicitor-General Donna Coleman-Stribling, prosecutes more than 13,000 misdemeanor crimes committed in DeKalb County each year. These cases include domestic violence, elder abuse, cruelty to children, vehicular homicide, drunk driving, harassment and stalking, trespassing and animal cruelty.
