Lauren Schenkel has accumulated considerable legal experience through various roles in notable institutions. Currently serving as a Legal Extern at the DeKalb County Solicitor-General's Office since August 2017, Lauren previously interned at the Dekalb County District Attorney's Office, where responsibilities included legal research and victim communication. Prior legal externship at Project South involved researching immigration issues and engaging with detainees. Earlier experience at the Paulding County District Attorney's Office focused on sexual assault and domestic violence cases, where responsibilities ranged from case preparation to trial representation. Lauren's background also includes an administrative internship at Terumo Cardiovascular Systems and customer service at Dunkin Donuts. Education includes a Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Michigan.

The Office of the DeKalb County Solicitor-General, under the direction of Solicitor-General Donna Coleman-Stribling, prosecutes more than 13,000 misdemeanor crimes committed in DeKalb County each year. These cases include domestic violence, elder abuse, cruelty to children, vehicular homicide, drunk driving, harassment and stalking, trespassing and animal cruelty. This Office is also responsible for the prosecution of county ordinance violations, which combined with misdemeanors, affect the quality of life for DeKalb County’s more than 750,000 citizens. The Office of the Solicitor-General diligently works to make a better, safer DeKalb County by preventing and deterring criminal activity through professional and impartial prosecution of crimes.
