Jitka Dekojova

Associate & Landscape Architect at Dekker/Perich/Sabatini Ltd.

Trained as a landscape architect and an environmental planner, Jitka Dekojova balances both aesthetics and ecology in landscape design. After working on ecological revitalization projects in Europe, Jitka supplemented her environmental knowledge with landscape architecture and urban design to bring an aesthetic quality to her work that allows people to better relate to landscapes and care about them.

While emphasizing adaptive reuse, urban food production, and the use of grey water systems in landscapes, Jitka also takes into account the ephemeral phenomenological aspects of the urban environment: the need for visually pleasing elements and details, the joy of unexpected discovery in everyday urbanism, and the vibrancy a diverse mix of people bring to urban spaces.

Jitka enjoys observing the relationship between people and the built environment and exploring how they impact and shape each other. Additionally, her past experience working for a landscape contractor allowed her to directly connect the design development with the construction process and long-term landscape maintenance. This has provided her with a clear end-user and contractor's point of view, which informs her design process today.
