Mike Mahaffie has a diverse work experience that spans over several decades. Mike started their career in 1986 as an Announcer/Newscaster/Program Manager at WGMD-FM. Mike then worked as a Community Relations Officer at Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control from 1989 to 1995. Following that, they served as the Manager of the Census State Data Center at Delaware Economic Development Office from 1995 to 1998. Mike then joined the State of Delaware and held various roles, including State GIS Coordinator from 1998 to 2011 and Deputy Director of Delaware Government Information Center, Dept. of State from 2011 to 2014. From 2014 to 2016, they served as the Director of Delaware Government Information Center, Dept. of State, overseeing the migration of multiple eGovernment applications. In 2009, they became the Planning Commission Chair for the City of Lewes, DE, a role they held until 2017. Lastly, they served as the Director of Web and Digital Media at Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control from 2016 onwards.
Mike Mahaffie earned a Bachelor's degree in English from Colby College, which they attended from 1980 to 1984. Prior to that, they obtained a high school diploma from Walt Whitman High School, specializing in English Language and Literature, during the period of 1976 to 1980.
