John Caruano, P.E. has extensive experience in the transportation industry. John started their career in 2003 as an Engineering Intern at PennDOT, where they gained experience in reviewing highway occupancy permit applications and drafting comment letters. In 2004, they continued their internship at PennDOT, focusing on intersection sight distance criteria and reviewing permit applications for various types of driveways. In 2005, they worked in the District 5 Bridge Design Unit, where they reviewed plans and performed bridge rating analysis.

In 2006, Caruano joined Traffic Planning and Design, Inc. as an Engineering Intern, where they worked on the Highway Occupancy Permits Design Team, preparing permit plans and drainage plans. John also had a role at Penn State University as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant, where they assisted in lecturing and instructed undergraduate students on highway design.

Caruano joined the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) in 2007 as a Project Engineer IV, where they designed highway transportation projects and prepared engineering plans. John later became a Project Manager and then a Group Engineer, responsible for managing environmental studies and stormwater management sections.

In their most recent role at DelDOT, Caruano served as the Chief of Environmental & Administrative Support, leading the Environmental and Administrative Support Services Section of the Transportation Solutions Division. Their duties included coordination with various agencies, stormwater management, human resources, and budgetary requirements.

Throughout their career, Caruano has demonstrated expertise in project management, engineering design, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance.

John Caruano, P.E. completed their education in a chronological order. John obtained their High School Diploma from Northwestern Lehigh in the years 1998 to 2002. Subsequently, they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Penn State University from 2002 to 2006. John then furthered their education and attained a Masters of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering, specifically focusing on Transportation, also from Penn State University between 2006 and 2007. In addition to their academic qualifications, John Caruano has acquired a Professional Engineer certification from the State of Delaware in July 2011.
