Delaware Justice of the Peace Court
Lauren Ellis serves as the Training Coordinator at Delaware Justice of the Peace Courts since July 2023. Previously, Lauren worked as the Administrator for Workforce Engagement and Training with New Castle County Government, overseeing HR communication initiatives and employee engagement programs. Lauren's earlier roles include Human Resources Assistant at New Castle County Government, Human Resources & Program Administrator at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, and various positions at the University of Delaware and James Madison University, focusing on training, supervision, and program development. Lauren holds a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Human Services, Education, and Public Policy, both from the University of Delaware.

Delaware Justice of the Peace Court
As the place where justice starts, it is the mission of the Justice of the Peace Court to serve the people of Delaware by efficient and accessible administration of justice for all, and to treat all persons with integrity, fairness, and respect. Legal Jurisdiction of the Justice of the Peace Court is explained in our Jurisdiction section. The Justice of the Peace Court System currently employs 286 personnel, has 16 Courts which process cases at 14 different locations throughout the State. The court has jurisdiction over civil cases in which the amount in controversy does not exceed $25,000. Justice of the` Peace Courts are also authorized to hear certain misdemeanors and most motor vehicle cases (excluding felonies) and may act as committing magistrates for all crimes.
