Heike Schmitt is an experienced researcher and academic specializing in antibiotic resistance in the environment. Currently serving as Principal Investigator at RIVM National Institute for Public Health and the Environment since March 2016, and as a Professor at Delft University of Technology since April 2022, Schmitt also acts as an advisor for the WETSUS theme on source-separated sanitation, a role held since January 2017. Additionally, Schmitt has been an Assistant Professor at IRAS, Utrecht University since May 2005 and was previously a PhD candidate in the Laboratory for Ecological Risk Assessment at RIVM from 2003 to 2005.
