Dr. William Gates, PE, D.GE, P.Eng, CEG, RG, is a Principal Geological Engineer at DELVE Underground, specializing in rock engineering and geotechnical challenges. A retired Army Special Forces officer, Dr. Gates has more than 55 years of hands-on experience in diverse geological and geotechnical disciplines. Previously, they held principal positions at McMillen Jacobs Associates and Kleinfelder, focusing on rock and groundwater engineering. Dr. Gates earned a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Campbell University, a Master's in Geological Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, and a PhD from the University of Nevada-Reno. They are registered as an engineer or geologist in several states and have achieved Diplomate status in Geotechnical Engineering.
