Dr Mariane Melo

Dr. Mariane Melo has a diverse range of work experience in various medical and research roles. Dr Mariane currently holds the position of Chief Medical Officer at Dem Dx, a role they began in January 2021. Prior to this, they worked as the Medical Director at Dem Dx from January 2019 to December 2020. Dr. Melo is also an NHS Clinical Entrepreneur as part of the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme, starting in February 2023. Dr Mariane is currently an Emergency Medicine Clinical Fellow at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, a position they began in February 2023.

Dr. Melo has also been involved in various research and academic roles. Dr Mariane worked as an Honorary Research Fellow at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London starting in November 2019. Before that, they co-founded Pharmaview, a spin-off company aimed at raising funds for a first-in-humans study on an innovative treatment for cocaine addiction. Dr Mariane held the role of Co-Founder at Pharmaview from June 2017 to July 2019.

Additionally, Dr. Melo has experience as a Clinical Research Associate at Drug's Reference Center from March 2017 to June 2019. Dr Mariane also worked as an Associate Researcher at Evelina Children's Hospital NHS and as a Medical Elective at King's College London in 2016. Prior to that, they held the position of Research Assistant at Imperial College London from October 2015 to April 2016.

Dr. Mariane Melo earned their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais in the field of Medicine, completing their education in 2018. During their medical studies, they also pursued a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at King's College London from 2015 to 2017. In addition, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Medical Physiology through the Science Without Borders Program at the University of East London from 2015 to 2016. Prior to their medical studies, Dr. Melo completed a Technical Chemistry program at Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica de Minas Gerais, specializing in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Technician, from 2009 to 2012.

Dr. Melo has also acquired additional certifications, including a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from Google, obtained in January 2022. Dr Mariane also possesses a full license to practice medicine from the General Medical Council.
