Yuora Yelpaala

Scientist, Analytical Chemist at Demetrix

Yuora Yelpaala has worked in various roles since 2010. In 2010, they began as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Graduate Research Assistant at the University of the Pacific, where they characterized a potential drug target, cysteine protease 4 (CP4), and developed and implemented new protocols and methods for refolding and activating recombinant CP4. Yuora also overexpressed superoxide dismutase 6 (SOD6) in T. vaginalis strains and performed assays to analyze the effect of SOD6 on metronidazole resistance. In 2014, they worked as a Junior Specialist at UC Davis Medical Center and as a Research Intern at Dophen Biomed. From 2016 to 2019, they worked as a Senior Associate Scientist at Intrexon Corporation, where they took the lead role in the implementation of shotgun proteomics platform onsite through implementation/optimization of sample preparation protocols, LC methods, and data analysis. Yuora also provided guidance and support for two direct reports, and delivered high quality data to support projects. Finally, in 2019, they began working as a Scientist, Analytical Chemist at Demetrix.

Yuora Yelpaala obtained a Master's Degree in Biological Sciences from the University of the Pacific in 2014. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences from UC Santa Barbara in 2008.
