Evan Burns

Evan Burns is an experienced educator and administrator with a background in talent and leadership development within the public school system. Currently serving as the Senior Director of Talent Development at Democracy Prep Public Schools since July 2019, Evan previously held the role of Assistant Director of Leadership Development at the same organization. Prior experience includes leadership positions at Coney Island Prep, such as High School Principal, where significant advancements in academics and school culture were achieved, and Dean of Instruction, where Evan guided ELA and Math teams to excel in Common Core standards. During earlier tenure as a Writing Teacher and Grade Level Chair at Democracy Prep, Evan ensured a 100% pass rate for scholars on the ELA Regents exam. Evan’s career began with Teach For America, teaching Spanish in a Title 1 school. Evan holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from Bucknell University.
