Melissa Starovasnik

Melissa Starovasnik is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the biotechnology sector, currently serving as a member of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Compensation Committee at Twist Bioscience since August 2021. In addition to this role, Melissa holds positions as a Scientific Consultant at Gilead Sciences since February 2024 and as a member of multiple Scientific Advisory Boards for organizations such as Denali Therapeutics, Adaxion Therapeutics, Abiologics, Aarvik Therapeutics Inc, and Expansion Therapeutics. Previous experience includes a significant career at Genentech from May 1993 to May 2021, where Melissa ascended through various leadership roles, culminating in the positions of Vice President in both Protein Sciences and Research Operations & Structural Biology. Melissa earned a PhD in Biochemistry and a BS in Chemistry from the University of Washington, further underpinning a strong foundation in scientific expertise.
