Lieven Vermeulen

Lieven Vermeulen has extensive experience in healthcare management and legal advisory roles. Currently serving as a member of the Zorgstrategie werkgroep at the Departement Welzijn, Volksgezondheid en Gezin since September 2022, Vermeulen previously held the position of Algemeen Directeur at az West from January 2005 to August 2022, where responsibilities included leading the executive committee, managing departmental directors and staff, reporting to the Board of Directors, and overseeing strategic planning and facility management. Prior to that, Vermeulen worked as a legal and medical director at vzw Gezondheidszorg Oostkust (now az Zeno) from February 1996 to December 2004. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree in Hospital and Health Care Facilities Administration/Management from Ghent University and a Master of Laws (LLM) and Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from KU Leuven.
