James Redmond is an experienced professional in transport planning and engineering, currently serving as the Head of Transport Planning & Modelling at the Department for Infrastructure since August 2022. In this role, James leads initiatives in transport planning, strategic modelling, and climate change within the transport sector. Previously, James held various senior positions, including Acting Director of Transport & Policy at the Department for Infrastructure, where responsibilities included decarbonisation and transport legislation. Prior roles include Associate Director at Jacobs, overseeing the Belfast Transport Team, and Principal Engineer at Amey, focusing on projects across the UK. James’s extensive background also includes key positions at RPS Group and DRD Road Service Consultancy. Academically, James holds a BENG in Chemical Engineering from Queens University Belfast and an MSC in Infrastructure Engineering from Ulster University.
