Douglas Appel serves as a Geospatial Analyst Instructor at the DoD Education Activity since December 2010, where responsibilities include curriculum development and instruction for the GEOSPATIAL ANALYST (GEOINT) Course. Previously, Douglas Appel held roles as an Operational Intelligence Training Instructor and Operational Intelligence Instructor throughout various organizations, contributing to curriculum development and instruction in operational intelligence courses. Additional experience includes serving as a Senior Intelligence Analyst at the Navy Information Operations Command and an Assistant Operations Coordinator at the Defense Intelligence Agency. Douglas Appel holds an MBA and a Master of Science in Human Resources Management from Strayer University, as well as a Bachelor of Applied Science in Business Administration and Management from Touro University California.

DoDEA's schools serve the children of military service members and Department of Defense civilian employees throughout the world. DoDEA operates 192 schools in 14 districts located in 12 foreign countries, seven states, Guam, and Puerto Rico. All schools within DoDEA are fully accredited by U.S. accreditation agencies. Approximately 8,700 educators serve more than 84,000 DoDEA students.
