Ben Mitchell, PhD, currently serves as a Science, Technology, and Policy Fellow at the U.S. Department of Energy's Building Technologies Office, managing projects related to retrofit and new construction solutions in the commercial buildings sector. Previously, as a Clean Energy Institute Graduate Fellow at the University of Washington, Ben received recognition for innovative research in clean energy and small molecule conversion chemistries. Ben's academic achievements include being awarded the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship, culminating in a thesis focused on molecular nanoclusters. With extensive teaching experience and a strong publication record, Ben has contributed to clean energy policy development as a Torrance Clean Energy Policy Analyst at the Washington State Academy of Sciences. Ben earned a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Washington and a BA in Chemistry from Pitzer College.
