Claire O'Connell

Claire O'Connell serves as a Senior Legal Researcher in the Legal Services Support Unit of the Department of Justice since January 2025. Concurrently, Claire holds a board member position at LGBT Ireland, actively participating in the LGBT+ Parenting Alliance on Assisted Human Reproduction and contributing to legislative drafting, including the Children and Family Relationships Amendment Bill 2023. Previous roles include Legal Clerk at the Legal Aid Board, Assistant Lecturer in Child Law at University College Cork, Policy Officer at The Ombudsman for Children's Office, Assistant Lecturer in Children's Rights at Technological University Dublin, and Legal Researcher at various organizations, including the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Law Reform Commission of Ireland. Claire's academic achievements include ongoing PhD studies in Child and Family Law at University College Cork, complemented by a Master’s degree and undergraduate qualifications in law.
