Environmental Defender Research Intern at U.S. Department of State

Jacqueline Zarzycki is an experienced environmental advocate with a background in waste management and policy reform. Currently serving as an Environmental Defender Research Intern at the U.S. Department of State since September 2022, Jacqueline also holds the position of Program Manager at Heritage Environmental Services since November 2021 and previously at Clean Harbors from June 2019 to October 2021, overseeing total waste management services. Jacqueline's experience includes significant roles at MSU Recycling Center, where responsibilities ranged from Zero Waste Coordinator to Zero Waste Student Assistant, significantly enhancing waste diversion efforts and educational programming. An early internship with the Michigan Education Association involved building coalitions advocating for college affordability, while a prior role as a Field Organizer for Clean Water Action focused on engaging communities on environmental issues. Jacqueline is currently pursuing a JD at Wayne State University Law School, following a BS in Environmental Economics & Policy and Environmental Geography from Michigan State University.
