Sonya M. Walker

Sonya M. Walker, MS has a diverse work experience in various organizations. Sonya M. is currently working at the U.S. Department of State as the Lead for Training and Program Evaluation Design & Development since February 2023. Prior to this, they worked at All Native Group, The Federal Services Division of Ho-Chunk Inc. as a Senior Training Evaluation Specialist on a contract basis for the U.S. Department of State from October 2019 to March 2023.

Before their involvement with the U.S. Department of State, Sonya worked at the Prince Edward County Sheriff's Office for a significant period of time. Sonya M.'sroles there included Lieutenant of Administration from January 2011 to November 2019, Accreditation Manager from January 2006 to November 2019, and Training Specialist from January 2006 to November 2019. In these roles, they were responsible for a range of management, administrative, training, and strategic planning tasks related to law enforcement.

Sonya's career in law enforcement began at the Prince Edward County Sheriff's Office in 1999, where they served as a Deputy Sheriff until November 2019. Sonya M.'sresponsibilities included serving as a Courtroom Security Officer, School Resource Officer, and Dispatcher.

Sonya M. Walker, MS has a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree in Business Administration and Legal Studies from Strayer University-Maryland, which they obtained from 2006 to 2011. Sonya M. then pursued a Master's Degree in Psychology, Public Administration, Social Change, and Behavior from Walden University, which they completed from 2011 to 2015. Sonya continued their education at Walden University, where they obtained a Master of Science (MS) in Psychology in 2022. Currently, they are a PHD Candidate in Forensic Psychology at Walden University, expected to complete their degree from 2018 to 2026. Additionally, Sonya has obtained several certifications in various areas, including Crisis Intervention Training Coordinator, Crisis Intervention Team Instructor (CIT), and Gang Investigator, among others.
