Mary Hansen

Mary Hansen is a seasoned communication professional with diverse experience in journalism and strategic communication. Currently serving as the Manager of Strategic Communication at DePaul University since August 2021, Mary has previously worked as a reporter for NPR Illinois, where reporting included notable coverage on COVID-19 responses and social justice movements. Earlier roles include city reporter for The State Journal-Register, where Mary focused on local governance issues, and contributing writer for YES! Magazine. A former intern at Daily Herald Media Group and analyst at CFAR, Mary began their career as a research assistant at Harvard University. Mary holds a Master of Arts in Public from the University of Illinois Springfield and a Bachelor's degree in International Studies from American University.
