Thomas Walder has extensive work experience in the hospitality and travel industry. Thomas began their career in 1994, holding various roles within the hospitality industry until 2003. In 2004, they worked as a Management Trainee at Hilton Shenzhen Shekou Nanhai. From 2005 to 2007, they served as an Account Manager at smartGuide AG. Thomas then joined Kuoni Travel Ltd. in 2008 and held multiple positions, including Business Analyst, Business Application Owner, Programme Manager, and Head of Marketing Systems & Process Management. In 2014, they joined Thomas Cook Group as the Group Head of Content before becoming the Group Head of Marketing Systems & Process Management. Thomas took a career break in 2016 before joining DER Touristik Suisse AG in 2017 as a Senior Business Development Manager. Currently, they hold the position of Leitung Unternehmensentwicklung / Head of Corporate Development at DER Touristik Suisse AG since September 2020.

Thomas Walder pursued their education in various fields, starting with their enrollment at the Culinary Institute Zurich from 1994 to 1997. Thomas then attended SHL Schweizerische Hotelfachschule Luzern, where they earned an Eidg. Dipl. Hotelier degree in Hotel Management from 2002 to 2005. In 2006, they began their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) studies in Business Administration and Management, General at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, which they completed in 2008.

Continuing their educational journey, Thomas undertook an ERASMUS exchange program at Jönköping University in 2007, focusing on International Marketing. In 2017, they pursued further studies at Strathclyde Business School, where they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration and Management, General, concluding their studies in 2020.

Alongside their formal education, Thomas obtained several additional certifications. In 2012, they achieved the Net Promoter Associate Certification from Bain & Company. Similarly, they acquired the Prince2 Foundation certification in June 2016, followed by the Prince2 Practitioner certification in April 2017, both awarded by AXELOS Global Best Practice.
