Laura Sweet

Laura Sweet is an experienced leader in the performing arts sector, currently serving as the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Des Moines Performing Arts since March 2012. Prior to this role, Laura was the Vice President of Marketing and Communications at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts from September 2008 to March 2012 and the Associate Executive Director at the Lied Center for Performing Arts from April 2001 to August 2008. Laura also imparted knowledge as a University Lecturer at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in early 2002. Laura's career began at Bailey Lauerman & Associates, where Laura worked as Associate Media Director and Account Executive from 1986 to 2001. Laura holds a Master's degree in Journalism from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from The University of Kansas, along with a participation in the IAVM Senior Executive Symposium at Cornell University focused on strategic planning for leaders.
