Des Moines Symphony and Academy
Bo Atlas is an accomplished music educator and performer specializing in tuba and euphonium. Currently serving as a Lecturer in Music at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln since August 2019, Bo has a distinguished performance background as the Principal Tubist for both the Des Moines Symphony and Academy since September 2011 and the Topeka Symphony Orchestra from September 2009 to May 2012. Previous roles include Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Co-Founding Member and Principal Tubist of the Lawrence 5 Brass Quintet. Bo holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Tuba Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Iowa, a Master of Music in Tuba Performance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and a Bachelor of Music in Tuba Performance from The University of Kansas.

The Des Moines Symphony is a not-for-profit, professional orchestra formed in 1937 to enrich, educate and provide the Central Iowa community with innovative programming and inspiring performances of great orchestral music.
