Ajay Arasanipalai

Research Engineer at Descript

Ajay Arasanipalai has a diverse work experience in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning. Ajay started their career as a Contract Technical Writer at NanoNets, where they analyzed hyperparameter optimization schemes and published articles on topics like convolutional networks and image synthesis. Ajay then worked at FloydHub as an AI Writer, where they authored articles on OpenAI's GPT-2 language model and generative adversarial networks (GANs). Ajay also had an internship at Mythic as an AI Engineering Intern.

Afterwards, Ajay joined the Event Horizon Telescope Collaboration as a Research Assistant, where they developed learning-based techniques to extract physical parameters of a black hole and managed experiments on distributed compute clusters. Ajay then worked at Google as a GSoC'21 Student Developer, focusing on the LLVM Compiler Infrastructure.

Ajay also gained experience at Landskape as a Deep Learning Researcher, where they published original research on new attention mechanisms for computer vision and developed artistic visualizations of neural network loss surfaces. Most recently, they have been working as a Machine Learning Engineer at Metaphor, and starting in 2023, they will be joining Descript as a Research Engineer.

Ajay Arasanipalai obtained a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where they studied from 2019 to 2022. Additionally, Ajay earned certifications in JavaScript Algorithms and Data Structures as well as Responsive Web Design from freeCodeCamp in 2019. In 2018, they obtained a Deep Learning Specialization certification from Coursera.
