Desert Research Institute
Spencer Staley is an accomplished Earth and Planetary Scientist currently serving as an Assistant Research Professor at the Desert Research Institute since October 2023. Previous experience includes a Postdoctoral Researcher role at The University of New Mexico from January 2016 to August 2023, where significant contributions were made in developing a sediment core record of climatic and ecological change in the American Southwest, supervising interdisciplinary teams, and disseminating research findings. Staley's diverse experience encompasses roles such as a Research Assistant, Teaching Assistant, and a Fellow at the National Lacustrine Core Repository, alongside internships at the New York State Museum and Selman and Associates, Ltd. Spencer holds a PhD and an MS in Earth & Planetary Sciences from The University of New Mexico and a BA in Geology from Colgate University.
