Ramesh's career began at the University of California at Riverside, where they worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. Prior to their postdoctoral work, Ramesh served as a JST-CREST Fellow at Nagoya University.

Ramesh Palanisamy, PhD, obtained their Bachelor of Chemistry degree from the University of Madras in 1995. Ramesh continued their education at the same institution and completed a Master's degree in Inorganic Chemistry in 1997. Subsequently, they pursued a Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences at the prestigious Indian Institute of Science (IISc) from 1997 to 2003.
