Garrett McClean is a Principal at DeSimone’s Plainville office. He is a registered Professional Engineer with 28 years of structural design and project management experience. His project experience includes numerous data centers, large scale mixed-use developments, and a broad range of commercial, retail, industrial, municipal, and educational projects. He specializes in developing cost effective and practical structural solutions, managing complicated projects, and coordinating structural systems with other building systems.
Mr. McClean has recently designed over 7 million sf of complex, multi-story data centers and mission-critical facilities with a total IT load of over 650 MW of power. These buildings have been located across the country and represent a total investment of over $4.5 billion dollars. Facilities have included large scale, multi-building, master-planned campuses of data center buildings for nationally recognized hyperscale and colocation data center providers that serve as the backbone to the country’s digital economy. He has also designed several custom built data centers for financial institutions and logistics companies across the country. Buildings have been designed as tilt-up, precast, and steel superstructures supporting a wide array of MEP systems.
Mr. McClean has also designed a variety of large scale mixed use and retail centers such as Westwood Station in Westwood, MA; Chapel View in Cranston, RI; and Colony Place in Plymouth, MA. His work includes new manufacturing facilities for the growing pharmaceutical and life sciences sectors and numerous other office, industrial, educational, and retail projects throughout the northeast.
Mr. McClean has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts.
