Lisa Barrett has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Lisa began their career with the University of Alberta as a Research Coordinator, where they managed research projects on health and social issues. Lisa then worked as a Newsroom Assistant at the Edmonton Journal before joining the Government of Alberta as a Seniors Program Advisor, where they advised clients on the Alberta Seniors Benefit Program. Lisa later transitioned to the role of Research and Policy Analyst, where they conducted research, analysis, and policy development relating to seniors and the aging population. Lisa then served as the Manager of Seniors Policy, leading a team of policy analysts and overseeing the implementation of policy frameworks. Lisa also worked at PHSA as a Quality Analyst before joining Destination Canada in 2015 as a Strategy Management Advisor and then as a Project Advisor, Industry Partnerships. Currently, they hold the position of Director of Strategic Planning at Destination Canada.
Lisa Barrett has a Master of Arts degree (M.A.) in Social Sciences from Athabasca University, which they earned between the years 2007 and 2010. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) in Psychology from the University of Alberta, where they studied from 1996 to 2001. In addition, Lisa has obtained a certification in Data Science Orientation from Coursera in April 2019.
