Rebecca Kissel (Becky)

Rebecca (Becky) Kissel is an experienced educator currently serving as a Model Teacher at the Detroit Academy of Arts and Sciences since August 2023. Prior to this role, Rebecca held various positions at Jalen Rose Leadership Academy, including Assistant Principal and Instructional Coach, from July 2019 to July 2023. Rebecca also worked as an Upper School Assistant Principal and 5th and 6th Grade History and Writing Teacher at KIPP Houston Public Schools from August 2015 to June 2019. Additional experience includes serving as a 6th Grade ELA Teacher at University YES Academy and participating as a Corps Member with Teach for America. Rebecca contributed to the enhancement of education in Liberia through a curriculum project with USAID. Earlier, as a PINS Site Coordinator, Rebecca developed lesson plans and facilitated mentor relationships for youth programs. Educational qualifications include a Master of Arts in Educational Studies: Urban Pedagogy from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.
