Shakir Smith

Shakir Smith is a dedicated educator with extensive experience in physical education and youth development. Currently serving as a Physical Education Teacher at the Detroit Academy of Arts and Sciences since July 2019, Shakir also works as a Fitness Specialist at the UAW-FORD Fitness Center in Dearborn and has been a Youth Specialist at Starfish Family Services since September 2009. Previous roles include Student Teacher at Dearborn Public Schools and Educator at various institutions such as Detroit Innovation Academy and George Washington Carver Academy. Shakir's educational background includes a Master of Arts in Teaching Physical Education and Health from Wayne State University, along with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Exercise Science and an Associate of Arts degree from Wayne County Community College District.
