Darren Nichols

Darren Nichols is a seasoned journalist with extensive experience in various media roles. Currently a contributing columnist for the Detroit Free Press since June 2020, Nichols has also worked as a freelance writer and journalist since April 2016, contributing to notable publications such as The New York Times and ESPN’s Andscape. Nichols served as a reporter for The Detroit News from 1992 to 2015, covering significant events such as the Detroit City Hall financial crisis. Earlier experiences include internships at several newspapers from 1988 to 1993. Educational achievements include studies at Wayne State University and Columbia University.
