Aaron Steele has worked as an Imaging Specialist/Photographer at the Detroit Institute of Arts since October 2014. Prior to that, they were an Associate Photographer at the Northeast Document Conservation Center from October 2013 to August 2014. aaron also worked at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, where they were a Digital Assets Specialist/Associate Photographer from May 2009 to June 2013 and a Digital Imaging Specialist from 2008 to May 2009. Prior to that, Aaron worked as a Photographer at the Lilly Rare Books Library, Indiana University from August 2005 to March 2008.

Aaron Steele attended Indiana University Bloomington from 1996 to 2008, earning a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Art Education K-12. aaron then pursued further education at the same institution, completing coursework towards a Master of Arts degree in Art History. Additionally, they undertook coursework for a Master of Science degree in Library Science (Visual Resources). However, there is no information regarding the specific years they pursued these degrees or if they completed them. Later on, Aaron transferred to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where they began working towards a Master of Fine Arts degree in Photography. Unfortunately, they had to suspend their studies due to financial concerns.
