Gina Newell

Gina Newell enters her second season as the Lions' director of team operations, after being promoted to the position in 2019. In her current role, Newell oversees all aspects of team travel, including the planning, lodging and transportation needs of the organization. Prior to this season, she served as the club's director of coaching operations.

Now in her 16th NFL season, Newell's first tenure with the Lions spanned nine seasons (2004-2012) when she served as coaching staff assistant. In between her stints with the Lions, she was, in 2013, the executive administrative manager to the president of Michigan.com

Newell originally joined the Lions after working as program assistant for the University of Michigan football program in recruiting and operations. In 2001, she assisted in the tennis tournament operations at the IMG tournaments in Miami and New Haven. Newell earned her bachelor's degree and master's degree, both in sports management, from the University of Michigan. The Jackson, Mich., native graduated from Northwest High School.
