Robert Schumaker

Robert Schumaker is the CFO of the Detroit Zoological Society. Robert has over 15 years of experience in finance and accounting, with a focus on strategic planning and business development.

Robert began their career as an intern at Plante Moran, one of the largest accounting firms in the world. Robert quickly rose through the ranks, becoming an Audit In-Charge within five years. In this role, they were responsible for all aspects of audit services provided to clients in multiple industries.

In 2010, Robert left Plante Moran to become the Executive Director of Finance for Douglas J Aveda Institutes & Salons. In this role, they were responsible for the finance operations for all 10 locations. Robert also worked alongside executive leadership to provide detailed financial and operational analysis.

In 2015, Robert joined the Detroit Zoological Society as their CFO. In this role, they are responsible for the financial operations of the organization. Robert also works with executive leadership to provide detailed financial and operational analysis.

Robert Schumaker obtained their BBA in Accounting from Central Michigan University.

They work with Jane Alessandrini - Chief Development Officer, Gerry VanAcker - COO, and Scott Carter - Chief Life Sciences Officer. Their manager is Hayley W. Murphy, Executive Director & CEO.
