Sharmel Hinton

Sharmel Hinton, MST, currently holds the position of Controller at the Detroit Zoological Society since January 2020. Previously, Sharmel served as Controller at U of D Jesuit and Matrix Human Services, where responsibilities included senior accounting roles. Sharmel began the accounting career as an Audit Associate at Deloitte & Touche USA LLP, followed by various positions at Hantz Tax & Business, LLC, Haynes, Maufus & Davis, PLLC, Kelly Services, Inc., and Trinity Health. Sharmel's educational background includes a Master of Science in Taxation from Walsh College and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Eastern Michigan University.
