Birgitta Schuelke

Birgitta Schuelke has extensive experience in journalism and media production, currently serving in the Team Investigations and Research at Deutsche Welle since January 1995, focusing on Syria, the Arab World, South Asia, and issues of accountability and human rights. Birgitta also holds roles as Senior Producer for FB DW Stories, project manager, and trainer in media projects across the Middle East and Southeast Asia, with expertise in video journalism and content development. Previous freelance reporting positions were held with ZDF, TROS, and RIAS Berlin, contributing to various news formats and documentaries. Birgitta's academic background includes a Magister degree from Freie Universität Berlin and a television editorial traineeship at RIAS Berlin, which complements a career dedicated to impactful storytelling in challenging contexts.
