Susan began their career as an Account Executive at Wordsworth Communications, where they were responsible for planning and executing events, writing press releases, and managing media coverage for clients such as Procter & Gamble Commercial Products Group and IHOP Restaurants.

After working at Wordsworth Communications, Susan joined Development Counsellors International (DCI) as an Account Executive. Over the years, they progressed through various roles at DCI, including Senior Account Executive, Account Supervisor, and Account Director. In these positions, Susan developed and implemented marketing plans for cities and states across the United States, oversaw social media profiles and digital campaigns for economic development clients, and managed a team to deliver national economic development marketing plans.

Susan also led the agency's owned media division, overseeing website design and development, data visualization, project management, content marketing, and social media management.
