Esther Gabriela Leva has extensive work experience in various roles related to citizen security, violence prevention, and project management. Esther Gabriela started their career in 2000 as a Procurement Specialist at USAID and then moved on to become a Project Management Assistant. Esther Gabriela later transitioned into roles such as Elections Advisor, Democracy, Human Rights and Governance Specialist, and Project Development Specialist, where they led the development of the Citizen Security Strategy and oversaw the design of violence prevention activities. In their most recent role at USAID, they served as a Citizen Security Specialist and Team Leader for the citizen security portfolio in Honduras. Esther Gabriela also worked as a Citizen Security and Violence Prevention Advisor at Development Professionals Inc. Esther Gabriela Leva completed their Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree in International Law at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras in 2008. Esther Gabriela then pursued a Graduate Certificate in Project Management at the Universidad Tecnológica Centroamericana in 2009. In addition to their formal education, Esther also obtained additional certifications. In November 2019, they completed the "Líderes para la gestión en seguridad ciudadana y justicia" certification offered by edX.
