Florian Stengel

Florian Stengel studied biochemistry at FU Berlin and Harvard University. After completing his diploma thesis as a DAAD foreign exchange scholar with Pamela Silver at Harvard Medical School, he went to the University of Cambridge to earn his Ph.D. with Carol Robinson, working on chaperone dynamics and using mass spectrometry as a tool for solving protein complex architecture and dynamics. In 2011 he joined the laboratory of Ruedi Aebersold at ETH Zurich as a Sir Henry Wellcome Fellow, where his research was centered on the development of novel mass spectrometry-based hybrid methods for integrative and cellular structural biology.

Since 2015 he heads his own laboratory as an Assistant Professor and Emmy-Noether Group Leader at the University of Konstanz, where his group is focusing on developing and applying novel mass spectrometric and proteomic approaches to gain insights into the mechanistic principles of molecular condensates in health and disease.
