Rachel Fitzpatrick currently serves as Deputy Director (SIDS) in the Global Programmes Unit at the Department of Foreign Affairs in Ireland, a position held since September 2024. Prior to this role, Rachel Fitzpatrick was the Deputy Consul General at the Consulate General of Ireland in Sao Paulo from August 2021 to August 2024. Previous experience includes serving as Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Ireland in Liberia and roles such as Deputy European Correspondent and Desk Officer for the Middle East and North Africa at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade from May 2017 to July 2021. Rachel Fitzpatrick also worked as a Desk Officer at the European Commission and held positions as Policy Assistant at Friends of Europe and in Public Affairs at Transparency International. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies from the College of Europe, and a Master’s degree in European Union Studies from the University of Edinburgh, complemented by a study abroad program in Russian language, literature, and politics at Yaroslavl Demidov State University.
