B.A. Laris, MPH, has been working in public health education programming and evaluation for over 20 years across the US and in Africa providing direct service, outreach, training, technical assistance, and capacity-building assistance. She has coordinated research and evaluation projects in a variety of setting from large-multi-state school-based projects to local community-based projects focusing on HIV/AIDS education and prevention, teen pregnancy prevention, nutrition, physical activity, violence prevention, substance abuse treatment and prevention, safe climate for GLBTQ students, families, and staff, after school programs, tobacco use control, policy review, primary health, and safety. BA uses both qualitative and quantitative methods and values stakeholder input and an iterative approach to monitoring and evaluation. She has led the creation, implementation, and evaluation of several innovative professional development learning events with the transgender community, for linkage to care for people living with HIV, and to support diverse and inclusive leadership strategies in community-based organizations.
